Sports play major role in the life of an individual. Small kids to youth everyone likes to play sport of some kind or the other. It not only gives a happy feeling but also makes us fit and healthier.Sports activities are arranged in each centre of Manav Sadhna. Children from different slums where Manav Sadhna is active, come together for playing games. They normally play games like skipping, hide & seek, running etc. They have seen games like Volleyball, football, Basketball, Frisbee etc only on television but never played practically. These games expect a player to have power, stamina, speed, good communication for good show. These skills are also helpful in self development of the player. They can also pursue these games as a career in their life if they are interested in that and ready to work hard, given they have basic skills. Over the period of time, they need to achieve perfection in the game they have selected as a career.
Football at Manav Sadhna
32 children are selected over three and half years who showed interest in football. These children belong to different projects of Manav Sadhna. They practice football every Sunday. In practice session, they start with running, then exercises followed by practice with football. They are taught how to pass, control, shoot the ball etc along with goal keeping skills. They are made familiar with the rules of the game. Football tournament is arranged on monthly basis, which gives an idea to players about what kind of game needs to be played from different positions thereby improving their skills to a great extent. They are taken to actual football field for practice once or twice a month, since Manav Sadhna does not have access to football field of their own.
